Zandvoorts growth
The ’10s of this century is a period of digital developments that are occurring at a rapid pace. With the introduction of the Ipad in 2010, the tablet makes its appearance. LED lighting, the 3D printer and VR Glasses also enter the market. In the ’10s, Europe is rocked by several terrorist attacks and in America, the Black Lives Matter movement emerges.
Developments within Formula 1
Formula 1 goes through many changes in the 10s of this century. Four new teams join Formula 1 and FIA bans all teams from refueling during the race. In 2011 the DRS system is introduced and 4 years later the Virtual Safety Car makes its entrance into Formula 1. Safety takes center stage these decades, highlighted by the introduction of the Halo in 2018.
Heroes of the Past
In these years, the King’s class of motorsports is dominated by 2 drivers. In 2010 through 2013, Sebastian Vettel crowned himself world champion 4 times in a row. Then in 2014 he handed over the torch to Lewis Hamilton, who crowned himself world champion 7 times.
During these years, Zandvoort has an upswing when looking at the racing calendar. After the first edition of the Historic Grand Prix in 2012, Zandvoort is increasingly chosen to host various racing classes. The ADAC GT Masters, FIA GT3 European Championship, FIA European Formula 3 Championship and Blancpain Sprint Series all visit Zandvoort. Photography ©Jim Houlgrave
Electric cars are on the way
Not only Formula One cars are going through a lot of change in terms of safety and sustainability. The entire auto industry has been developing safe and sustainable cars over the past few decades. The best-known model is the Tesla Model S, which will become the world’s best-selling electric car in 2015. But our cars are also improving in terms of safety. With the introduction in 2019 of the automatic braking system (AEB) that warns/intervenes drivers if your predecessor is suddenly stopped.
The Latest Hits from the 10s
The 10’s is a decades when a lot of music styles grow and get bigger. For example, dance music gets bigger and bigger with DJs like Tiesto and Armin van Buuren. In addition, pop music gets a huge boost with artists such as Taylor Swift, Justin Bieber and Ed Sheeran.
